Dianne Made It!

Dianne arrived safely to Piedras Negras on Monday, November 8!

Behind her was a dusty trail 1,132 miles long. A mariachi band, almost a hundred friends and family, banners, tears, cheers, and more greeted Dianne and her crew at the Plaza de Culturas. We danced, laughed, and cried tears of joy to celebrate the phenomenal feat of the Tour de Lectura.

Then Dianne was taken to the Juanita Bowsher Medical and Community Center where the CPC staff, the New Hope Library kids, and the Land and Hope Preschool students presented her with a show filled with songs, dances, a theater production of Rumpelstiltskin, a slideshow of pictures chronicling the amazing works of Dianne, and traditional Mexican dancing by the Apango Folklore dancers — who graciously donated their time to CPC. In a word: precious. It was quite the fiesta — for quite a lady.

Of course, Dianne could not have biked the Southeast U.S. without the incredible support of her trainer, Tracy McKay (on left in photo on right) from Transitions Multisport (Birmingham, AL), and her crew, Matt Buttler (Birmingham, AL), Clint “Rambo” Askins (Wichitah Falls, TX), Ellie Moorhead (Dunwoody, GA), and Jim Maxwell (Tacoma, WA).

In addition to the crew, two of her children, Dina Marble and Drew Brosowsky, played a vital part in keeping her spirits high and the wheels turning. Drew biked with Dianne for 400 miles—a third of the trip. Dina road with Dianne for the last five days — all the way to Eagle Pass, TX.

With her family, crew, trainer, and loved ones, Dianne safely made it from Birmingham, AL to Piedras Negras, MX in only 22 days. Not bad for a 70 year old!

Thank you for your prayers of safety and high spirits, for your financial support, for your letters and messages of encouragement, and for your faith in Dianne, CPC, and God’s hand in this ministry. We could not continue without your support.

CPC is now one-step closer to reaching our educational goals of starting a four year old preschool, opening small community libraries in the neighborhoods, and starting an elementary school. Can you see the children learning? Laughing? Believing in a better tomorrow? Let’s make it a reality.
